Operations Division Program
Operations Division employees "trained" landfill operators and "trained" landfill spotters. Employees are required to complete course work and pass exam to increase knowledge, skills and abilities associated with properly handling incoming waste stream. Continuing education hours are required to maintain current "trained" status.
Operations Division consists of six areas.

- Yard Trash Processing
- Perdido Landfill Citizen's Convenience Center
- Oak Grove Citizen's Convenience Center
- Class-I Landfill
- Landfill Maintenance
- Oak Grove Land clearing Debris Disposal Facility

Operations Questions and Answers
- Can you accept Kitchen Appliances? Yes, the appliances need to be put in the front of the load or the end of the load, since it will be going to a seperate place on the landfill.
- Can you accept clean concrete? Yes, as long as it doesn't have barbed wire or rebar in it, there will be no charge. If there is wire or rebar then there will be the charge of $31 per ton.
- Can you weigh just the trailer and not the truck? No, you have to weigh both the trailer and the truck when you come in and when you leave.
- Do you have un-loaders to unload the trucks? No, but, we do have a pull off system. You can use a chain to chain off to us and pull off.
- Do you take creosote? Yes, we will take it as long as it is dry only, we will not take it in liquid form.
- Do you take sewage waste? No, if it is commercial, you must call ECUA for the wastewater plant downtown. If it is for motor homes, then you can go to a campground or a state park. They will have dumping stations.
- Can we use a front loader for getting mulch? No, you have to shovel out the mulch yourself.
- Do you take pier pilings? Yes, but, they need to be cut 10ft in length.
- Will you take a trailer? Yes, as long as the tires are off the trailer.
- Will you take a house trailer? Yes, but, the trailer has to be 12 feet wide.
- Do you take bullet proof glass? Yes.
- What are the restrictions for bringing trees in? The trees need to be 10ft or less.
- Can you take wet grass? Yes, as long as it is not dripping wet.
- Do you take cars at the landfill? No, we only take car parts.
- Do you take boats at the landfill? Yes, as long as they are a shell, with no liquid and no motor.
- Do you take motorcycles? Yes, as long as they don't have liquids in them.
- Do you take cinderblocks? Yes, if they have no wire or rebar in them, then there is no charge. If there is wire and rebar, there is a charge of $31 per ton.
- Do you take drain lines? Yes.

YOU ARE ENTERING AN ACTIVE CONSTRUCTION SITE
YOUR SAFETY IS OUR GOAL
ALL VISITORS MUST SIGN IN AT THE OFFICE
COMMERCIAL CUSTOMERS WILL BE ASKED TO FOLLOW THESE BASIC RULES:
- Personal protective equipment (PPE) is required for all county employees, commercial drivers, and contractors.
- Required PPE for our customers: high visibility reflective clothing, work gloves, hard hat, steel toed boot, work boots with 6" upper (ANSI 41,) and safety goggles.
- Speed limit is 15 mph unless otherwise noted.

- When approaching the workface or disposal site you will have to back your vehicle; take special care.
- Vehicle mounted safety lighting required during early hour off-loads.

- A 15-foot safe zone must be maintained between heavy equipment, vehicles, and personnel at the workface.
- AT ALL TIMES ADHERE TO THE FOLLOWING SPACING BETWEEN VEHICLES WHILE UNLOADING ON THE WORKFACE:
ALL TILT FRAME TRUCKS 10-FEET
REAR END LOADER 10-FEET
FRONT END LOADER 15-FEET
ROLL-OFF 15-FEET
END DUMP TRAILER
(LENGTH OF TRAILER PLUS 10-FEET)
- Only one person may exit vehicle and must stay within six (6) feet of vehicle. This person will be responsible for opening turnbuckles and unlatching roll-off box doors.
- Never cross behind a backing vehicle.
- Never walk under a raised tailgate.
- No salvaging or scavenging allowed.
- No smoking.
- Vehicles must be weighed in and out prior to returning to load mulch.
CHILDREN AND PETS MUST REMAIN IN VEHICLE AT ALL TIMES.
ANYONE NOT OBEYING THESE RULES WILL NOT BE ALLOWED ON SITE.
